There I was under the trees, alone, with my flashlight out in the darkness. This isn't so bad. Should I travel further? Is it time to return?
Out of the nothingness a giant moth swooped down beside me and forced me to jump. Whoa! Startling! A few steps further I dared to move and the grips of a web seemed to wrap around my shoulders. Yikes! What the? and the mind is spinning and conjuring images of the unknown.....and it is in this place where I find what I'm looking for - My Edge - there it was, standing before me. Am I afraid of the dark? Afraid of the unknown? What I know in that moment is it's time to go back.
As I focus on where I am, I start walking and there are the faded blue lights by the massage tent, the flashlights darting in and out of the moment and finally, what I'm looking for....a familiar building and familiar voices and the bell that says it's time to return and I make it back. Back from the edge of darkness.
What you just read was the result of an exercise from my retreat in Molokai to find your edge. A moment a won't forget. I didn't realize there was even an edge to find until then.
A worthy adventure!
